Haida House at Tllaal was proud to receive Sustainable Tourism Certification (formerly Green Tourism) August 2018. Achieving this high level of tourism certification was as a result of the commitment to Haida and local employment, locally sourced foods and beverages, cultural tours, preservation of the environment and implementing recycling and energy saving strategies.

About the Program

Sustainable Tourism is the largest sustainable grading program in the world with over 2,000 members in the UK, Ireland and Canada. It offers credible, independent guidance to tourism businesses wishing to operate sustainably. The program takes a holistic approach to sustainability, covering comprehensive categories from management practices, cultural and heritage practices, waste management, and conservation of energy and water.

Companies are reassessed every two years and must demonstrate continual improvement in sustainability performance in order to maintain and improve the level of certification.
